Mac Studio (2023) Power Button

Before You Begin

Remove the following parts before you begin:

Tools

  • Adjustable torque driver (10–34 Ncm)

  • ESD-safe tweezers

  • Metric ruler

  • Scissors

  • Sticky notes (3 by 3 inches)

  • Torx Plus 3IP 25 mm 1/4" bit

Removal

  1. Stand the computer on its back with the front ports facing up.

  2. Use the adjustable torque driver and Torx Plus 3IP bit to remove the three 3IP screws (923-07541) from the power button.

  3. Lift the power button out of the housing.

Reassembly

  1. Insert the power button into the opening in the housing.

  2. Use the adjustable torque driver and Torx Plus 3IP bit to partially reinstall three 3IP screws (923-07541) into the power button.

  3. Use the metric ruler and scissors to cut three 5 mm by 10 mm alignment strips from a single sticky note.

  4. Use the ESD-safe tweezers to insert the 5 mm end of each alignment strip into the gap between the power button and housing as shown. Space the strips evenly around the power button.

  5. Adjust the position of the power button from the inside of the housing as you insert the alignment strips.

  6. Ensure that the alignment strips are fully inserted into the gap around the power button.

    • Important: If you're unable to insert the three alignment strips, use the adjustable torque driver and Torx Plus 3IP bit to partially loosen the 3IP screws.

  7. Ensure that the gap between the power button and housing is even around the entire power button.

  8. Set the torque value of the adjustable torque driver to 13 Ncm. Then use the adjustable torque driver and Torx Plus 3IP bit to fully reinstall the three 3IP screws into the power button.
