Control what’s playing in the Apple TV app
Whether you’re watching a TV show or a movie, you’re in control.
Play or pause
On the smart TV or device remote, press the center or play button.
When you pause playback, the playback timeline appears, showing elapsed and remaining time. The solid bar indicates how much of the item is cached (temporarily downloaded in the Apple TV app
).
Rewind or fast-forward
You can move rapidly forward or backward through video in several ways. During playback, use the smart TV or device remote to do any of the following:
Skip backward or forward 10 seconds: Press the left or right button to skip backward or forward. Press again to skip another 10 seconds.
Rewind or fast-forward continuously: Press and hold the left or right button to rewind or fast forward, or press either button repeatedly to cycle through rewind or fast-forward speed options (2x, 3x, 4x). Press the center or play button to resume playback.

During playback, you can get more information about a movie or TV show or go directly to your Up Next watchlist.
Press the center or play button on the smart TV or device remote to show playback controls, then select either the Info or Up Next tabs.
Some movies contain a Chapters tab, which appears when the Info tab is shown. To skip to a chapter, navigate to Chapters, then select a chapter.
Turn on subtitles and closed captioning (if available)
During playback, press the center or play button on the smart TV or device remote to show playback controls, then select the Subtitles button
and choose the option you prefer.
Choose an audio language or audio track (if available)
During playback, press the center or play button on the smart TV or device remote to show playback controls, then select the Audio Options button
and choose an option.
