Before You Begin
Warning
Read Battery Safety and follow workspace and battery handling guidelines before you begin.
Remove the following parts in this order before you begin:
Logic board (see steps below)
SIM assembly (see steps below)
Tools
Adjustable torque driver (10–34 Ncm)
ESD-safe tweezers
Nylon probe (black stick)
Super screw bit for adjustable torque driver
Refer to a full list of tools required for all repairs.
Important
Order the correct color enclosure for your iPhone.
Logic Board

Removal
Lift the ends of the five flex cables off the connectors.
Use the 10–34 Ncm adjustable torque driver and the super screw bit to remove four the super screws from the logic board. Set aside the screws.
Remove the logic board from the enclosure.
SIM Assembly

Removal
Remove the SIM tray if present and save it for reassembly. Verify that the SIM tray ejector is pushed in.
Use the 10–34 Ncm adjustable torque driver and super screw bit to remove the two super screws from the SIM assembly. Set aside the screws.
Gently separate the SIM assembly and the attached SIM assembly standin from the adhesive on the enclosure. Remove the SIM assembly from the enclosure.
Caution: The SIM assembly standin must stay attached to the SIM assembly.
Reassembly
Warning
It's recommended to only install new batteries. Used battery cells can become damaged during the removal process. Read Battery Safety to learn more.
Install the following parts in this order to the replacement enclosure and follow the reassembly steps for each part:
SIM assembly (see below)
Logic board (see below)
SIM Assembly Reassembly
Verify that the SIM assembly standin is attached to the SIM assembly.
- Caution: If the standin is missing or remained adhered to the existing enclosure, stop the repair. You can find a service option at
Position the SIM assembly in the replacement enclosure.
Reinstall the SIM tray for alignment (if available).
Set the torque value on the 10–34 Ncm adjustable torque driver to 10 Ncm. Use the adjustable torque driver and super screw bit to install two new super screws (923-12613) into the SIM assembly.
Logic Board Reassembly
Position the logic board in the new enclosure.
Caution: Don't trap the flex cables under the logic board.
Set the torque value on the 10–34 Ncm adjustable torque driver to 14.5 Ncm. Use the adjustable torque driver and super screw bit to install three new super screws into the logic board:
One super screw (923-12614) (1)
Two super screws (923-12371) (3)
Set the torque value on the adjustable torque driver to 10 Ncm. Use the adjustable torque driver and super screw bit to install one new super screw (923-12615) (2) into the logic board.
Press the ends of the five flex cables to the connectors on the logic board.
