Try quick troubleshooting steps
Ensure that the microphones aren't blocked or covered. Refer to instructions in Clean your Beats Studio Buds, Beats Studio Buds +, and Beats Fit Pro, Clean your Powerbeats Pro, and Clean and store your Beats earphones or headphones.
If the Beats product contains firmware, verify that it has been updated to the latest firmware version.
It may be necessary to reset the product for firmware updates to be applied and recognized.
Note: If the product unexpectedly turns off after resetting it, connect the product to a known good power adapter or charger that's connected to AC power and charge the product completely.
Run manual tests
If the issue wasn’t resolved by following a support article or trying the quick troubleshooting steps, run these manual tests to help isolate the cause of the issue:
To check microphone functionality:
Follow Apple and Beats support procedures to pair the Beats product with a known good iPhone, using Bluetooth. Open the Voice Memos app on the paired iPhone and record 15 seconds of audio by speaking into the headphone or earphones.
Play back the recorded audio through the headphones or earphones, listening for audio distortion or loss of audio.
Switch the audio output to the iPhone speaker. Play the recorded audio through the iPhone speaker, again listening for audio distortion or loss of audio. If an issue is noted, compare the audio playback on the iPhone to that of the headphones or earphones to confirm a microphone issue.
Service the Beats product
If the issue wasn’t resolved or isolated by following the previous steps, it's recommended to mail in the Beats product for service. Refer to Beats Repair and Service for specific guidance.
