Try quick troubleshooting steps

  1. Try the following steps to resolve issues where the Beats Solo Buds volume level is lower than expected when connected:

    1. Return both buds to the case.

    2. Close the lid.

    3. Wait one minute.

    4. Take the buds out and resume use or playback.

    5. Once completed, the volume should be at correct levels and the associated volume level control on the companion device should again show volume changes as expected.

  2. Play known good audio media on an iOS device or Mac while listening to audio through the Beats product to verify the issue.

  3. For Beats wireless products, sound issues may be related to Bluetooth or Active Noise Cancellation (ANC). Refer to If you can’t connect to your wireless Beats product and Switch between noise control modes for more information.

  4. For Beats wired products, sound issues are often related to issues with the audio jack, the audio cable, or the speakers within the product. Ensure that the correct end of the Beats RemoteTalk cable (the L-shaped end) is fully inserted into the headphone or audio output jack on the audio device.

  5. If the Beats product contains firmware, verify that it has been updated to the latest firmware version.

  6. It may be necessary to reset the product for firmware updates to be applied and recognized.

    • Note: Resetting a product with nonreplaceable batteries may cause the product to require a full recharge cycle.

    • Note: If the product unexpectedly turns off after resetting it, connect the product to a known good power adapter or charger that is connected to AC power and charge the product completely.

Run manual tests

If the issue wasn’t resolved by following a support article or trying the quick troubleshooting steps, run these tests to help isolate the cause of the issue:

  1. To check audio quality:

    1. Play known good audio media on an iOS device or Mac while listening to the sound through the Beats product to verify the issue.

    2. Verify audio quality by answering these questions:

      • Is the sound clear, with no distortion or static, crackling, popping, high-pitched tones, or other sound anomalies?

      • Does sound emerge from both the left and right sides?

      • Is the sound volume adequate, with no loss of volume or range?

      • Is any interference from outside sources detected?

Service the Beats product

If the issue wasn’t resolved or isolated by following the previous steps, it's recommended to mail in the Beats product for service. Refer to Beats Repair and Service for specific guidance.
