Add a private course to the iTunes U catalog
By default, all courses created in iTunes U are private. To add a course to the iTunes U catalog and make it available to the public, an affiliated instructor must submit a request to their institution’s iTunes U Public Site Manager administrator and the administrator must add the course to the institution’s iTunes U site.
The affiliated instructor requesting the private course become public must be the course owner and must have an Apple ID or Managed Apple ID that was previously used to sign in to iTunes Store, App Store, iCloud, Apple Books, or Apple Online Store and the owner of the course. See Sign in with your Apple ID.
Before you submit a private course to the iTunes U catalog, use Course Settings to confirm the course is associated with a category.
Request a private course become public
In iTunes U for web, click in the row for the course you want to make public.
Choose Add to Public Catalog, then click Submit Request.
iTunes U sends an email indicating your request was sent to your institution’s iTunes U Public Site Manager administrator. When your institution’s administrator approves your request, adds the course to your institution’s iTunes U site, and publishes the site, your course is published in the iTunes U catalog and available publicly for all users to view and subscribe.
When a course transitions from private to public, iTunes U:
Displays in the iTunes U dashboard so you can view the published course.
Permanently deletes the course roster if one exists and any discussions within the course. Any students previously enrolled in the course remain enrolled in the course.
Submitting a request is irreversible. Once you submit a request, it cannot be undone and you cannot make a course private again or restore the roster.
Note: If you created the private course before you were an affiliated instructor, to request the course become public, you must use the Institution pop-up menu in the Course Settings pane to associate the course with your affiliated institution before you can submit your request to your institution’s iTunes U Public Site Manager administrator.
