Use the VPN status menu in the menu bar on Mac
You can use the VPN status menu in the menu bar to quickly connect to or disconnect from a VPN, to track how long you’re connected to the VPN, and to display the VPN status while connecting.
Show or hide the VPN status menu in the menu bar
On your Mac, choose Apple menu > System Settings, then click Control Center in the sidebar. (You may need to scroll down.)
Go to Menu Bar Only, click the pop-up menu next to VPN, then do one of the following:
Show the VPN status menu: Choose Show in Menu Bar.
Hide the VPN status menu: Choose Don’t Show in Menu Bar.
Note: If you don’t already have a VPN set up on your computer, this option may not be available.
To quickly remove the VPN status menu from the menu bar, Command-click the icon, then drag it out of the menu bar.
Connect to or disconnect from a VPN
On your Mac, click in the menu bar.
Choose a VPN to connect to or disconnect from.
Show or hide the length of time connected to the VPN
On your Mac, click in the menu bar.
Do any of the following:
Show the connection time: Choose Show Time Connected so that a checkmark appears next to the option.
Hide the connection time: Choose Show Time Connected so that the checkmark disappears.
Show or hide the connection status
On your Mac, click in the menu bar.
Do any of the following:
Show the connection status: Choose Show Status While Connecting so that a checkmark appears next to the option.
Hide the connection status: Choose Show Status While Connecting so that the checkmark disappears.
