Change preferences in Voice Memos on Mac
Use preferences to set default options for using Voice Memos.
To change these preferences in the Voice Memos app on your Mac, choose Voice Memos > Preferences.

Clear Deleted | Choose how long to keep recordings in the Recently Deleted folder. For example, if you choose After 7 Days, your recordings are available in the folder for 7 days. After that, Voice Memos removes them. See Delete a recording. | ||||||||||
Audio Quality | Choose either Compressed (for lower-quality, smaller files) or Lossless (for high-quality, larger files). | ||||||||||
Location-based Naming | Select this option to have recordings automatically named based on your location. See Manage which apps can detect your Mac location. | ||||||||||
