About Pixelmator Pro sidecar files in Pixelmator Pro on Mac
A Pixelmator Pro sidecar file (.pxd-sidecar) is a special file format that lets you save layers and nondestructive edits to standard image file formats such as JPEG, PNG, TIFF, HEIF, or WebP. The sidecar file is saved in the same location as the image file, and is referenced when you open the image in Pixelmator Pro. Sidecar files are managed automatically—once you save them, there’s no need to update or move them.
