About activities in Schoolwork
Activities are the tasks that you assign to your students as part of a Handout. The types of activities you can add to a Handout include apps, files, links, bookmarks, photos, videos and scanned documents.
When student progress is enabled in Apple School Manager and students complete an activity in a progress-reporting app you assigned in a Handout, all available progress data is shared with you. The progress-reporting app automatically sends information about how students are doing as they complete the activity in the app (for example, time spent on the activity, the percentage completed, quiz scores, hints used or points earned). The data available depends on the type of activity and is defined by the app developer. For other activities (for example, a link or PDF), you only see whether or not a student marked the activity as complete. When you request an item from a student or give each student a copy of a file to work on, you see whether or not the student marked the item as complete, as well as the work the student submitted.
For progress-reporting apps, you may need to walk through all the content to see all the activities associated with the app. To do this, launch and run the app on your iPad, then explore the content within the app. As you do so, the content becomes available as Schoolwork activities. For example, to assign a Schoolwork activity for your students to take a quiz in an app and report their progress, you need to first open the quiz when signed in with your teacher account. To assign your recently viewed activities to students from any device, confirm Sync App Activities is enabled on your iPad for progress-reporting apps (go to Settings > Class Progress, then tap Sync App Activities). When Sync App Activities is enabled and you view activities, Schoolwork saves your recently viewed activities across devices so you can easily assign these activities to students from any device. If you need to replace or repair your device, syncing your app activities allows you to continue to access your previously viewed activities from another device.
