Import and export network connection settings on Mac
You can export groups of connection settings, or configurations, from Network preferences, then let other people on your network use the configuration file to import the settings into Network preferences on their computers.
For example, if you’re a network administrator, you can create a configuration file with the correct settings for your network, export it, then send it to users so they can easily set up to connect to your network.
If you were given a configuration file, you can import it.
On your Mac, choose Apple menu
> System Preferences, then click Network.Do one of the following:
Export settings: To export a file, select the service whose settings you want to export, such as a VPN configuration, in the list on the left, click the Action pop-up menu
, then choose Export Configurations. Give the configuration file a name, click the Where pop-up menu, then choose where to save it. You can also select to export the user or machine configuration, or both.Import settings: Click the Action pop-up menu
, choose Import Configurations, select the file, then click Open. You can also double-click the configuration file to import it into Network preferences, then select the configuration using the Configure pop-up menu.
