
View and assign roles in Apple Business
In Apple Business, you can assign a role to one or more users. To view default role permissions, see Intro to roles and permissions.
View a role
In Apple Business, sign in with a user whose role has permissions to view, edit, and delete other roles.
In your browser, choose Settings > Roles & Permissions.
Select a role to view a list of the permissions associated with it. See Permission lists.
Edit a role’s permissions
In Apple Business, sign in with a user whose role has permissions to view, edit, and delete other roles.
In your browser, choose Settings > Roles & Permissions.
Select a default role or a custom role.
Select a permissions group, such as Organization, People, Devices, Apps & Services, or Brands.
If the permissions can be edited, select Edit, then do one of the following:
To remove a permission from a role, deselect its checkbox, then select Save.
To add a permission, select its checkbox, then select Save.
Add a custom role
You can add a custom role and define very specific permissions to that role.
In Apple Business, sign in with a user whose role has permissions to view, edit, and delete other roles.
In your browser, choose Settings > Roles & Permissions.
Select Add next to Custom Roles.
Enter a name for the role and if necessary, a description of this role, then select Next.
Select each permissions group, then choose which permissions this role can perform.
Select Done, review any additional permissions that may be added automatically, then select OK.
After the role is created, you can assign a user to that role.
Edit the role for a single user
Users can have more than one role assigned to them.
In Apple Business, sign in with a user whose role has permissions to create, edit, and delete Managed Apple Accounts.
To view roles and permissions, see Intro to roles and permissions.
Select the user from the list.
Select Edit, select a role, organizational unit, and optionally, a brand.
If you want to add a second role for this user, select Add next to the initial role, then enter a different role, organizational unit, and optionally, a brand.
Select Save.
Edit the role for multiple users
Users can have more than one role assigned to them.
In Apple Business, sign in with a user whose role has permissions to create, edit, and delete Managed Apple Accounts.
To view roles and permissions, see Intro to roles and permissions.
Select the users from the list.
Select Add next to
Add a role or Organizational Unit.Choose a role, organizational unit, and optionally, a brand, then select Continue.
If you want to add a second role for these users, select Add next to the initial role, then enter a different role, organizational unit, and optionally, a brand.
Select Save.
A new activity is created.
Choose one of the following:
Stop the activity.
View the activity.
Select Close.
Wait for the activity to complete, then select Done.
