System requirements for iCloud

These are the recommended system requirements and minimum system requirements for iCloud.

Recommended system requirements

iCloud1 requires an Apple Account, an active internet connection and up-to-date software. If you meet the recommended system requirements below, you can take advantage of the latest iCloud features and get the best overall experience. At the bottom of this page, you’ll find the minimum requirements for each feature.

Minimum system requirements by feature

To use iCloud, you’ll need at least iOS 10 on iPhone 5, iPad (4th generation) or iPad mini 2; watchOS 3 on an Apple Watch; macOS Sierra 10.12 on a Mac; tvOS 4 on an Apple TV (4th generation); or visionOS 1 on an Apple Vision Pro.

Account recovery contacts

Account recovery contacts are available on iPhone, iPad or Mac.

To set up an account recovery contact, all of your devices must be updated to the latest iOS, iPadOS, watchOS, macOS and tvOS. If you have an older device that can’t be updated to iOS 15, iPadOS 15 or macOS Monterey, you’ll need to sign out of iCloud on that device.

To become an account recovery contact, you’ll need at least one device with iOS 15, iPadOS 15 or macOS Monterey or later.

Apple Watch For Your Kids

Apple Watch For Your Kids is available on iPhone and Apple Watch with two-factor authentication.

Some Android devices can use iCloud.com, but the site works best when using supported browsers on macOS, iOS, iPadOS or Windows.

Some features aren’t available in all countries and regions. Access to some services is limited to 10 devices.

  2. Outlook 2010 Personal Edition isn’t supported.

  3. To share iCloud+ with your family, you’ll need iOS 11 or later, or macOS High Sierra or later. You can participate in a shared iCloud+ plan using iOS 9 or later, or OS X El Capitan 10.11 or later.

  4. If you have two-factor authentication and you use iCloud Keychain, you’ll need iOS 9 and OS X El Capitan 10.11 or later.
