How do I get my iPhone fixed?

Apple offers many ways to get support and service for your iPhone. Choose the one that’s best for you. Our support articles might answer your question. Or we can help you repair broken screens, replace batteries, and fix other issues.

How much will it cost?

There's no charge if the issue is covered under warranty, AppleCare+, or consumer law. If your issue isn’t covered, the price depends on the type of repair. If we can’t repair your iPhone, you might need to replace it.

Can I get a loaner iPhone?

If you bring your iPhone to an Apple Store or an Apple Authorized Service Provider, we'll try to fix it during your appointment. Some iPhone repairs require precise calibration on specialized equipment. If we need to send your iPhone to an Apple Repair Center, we'll check to see if you can use a loaner while your iPhone gets repaired. A loaner iPhone is available for most repairs that are covered under the Apple Limited Warranty.

Our repair center will return your iPhone to your service location when your repaired iPhone is ready. When you pick up your iPhone, return the loaner to us in the same condition as it was when we lent it to you.

Apple Limited Warranty coverage

The Apple Limited Warranty covers your iPhone and Apple-branded accessories against manufacturing defects for one year from the date you bought your product. Our warranty is in addition to rights provided by consumer law.

Our warranty doesn't cover damage caused by accidents or unauthorized modifications. See the warranty for complete details. You can check your warranty status online and update your proof-of-purchase information if there's an error in our records.

Can I buy additional coverage for my iPhone?

AppleCare+ for iPhone extends your technical support and hardware coverage up to two years from your AppleCare+ purchase date. It also includes Express Replacement Service and up to two incidents of accidental damage coverage. Each incident has a service fee. If you didn't buy AppleCare+ with your iPhone, you can buy it within 60 days of your purchase.

You may also have consumer law rights. Apple warranty and AppleCare+ benefits are in addition to your rights under consumer law.

Out-of-warranty service

Repairs are considered out of warranty when:

  • Your iPhone is over one year old
  • Your iPhone has an issue that’s not covered under warranty or consumer law, like accidental damage or damage caused by unauthorized modifications

We might be able to fix or replace your product for an out-of-warranty fee. Your replacement iPhone will be new or equivalent to new in both performance and reliability. The Apple Limited Warranty is in addition to rights provided by consumer law.

Battery service

The Apple Limited Warranty covers a defective battery, but it doesn’t cover wear from normal use. We might need to test your iPhone to find the cause of your battery issue.

If your battery has a manufacturing defect and it's covered by our warranty, AppleCare+, or consumer law, we'll service it at no additional cost. If your iPhone battery service isn't covered, we can replace your battery for a fee.

If you’re covered by AppleCare+ and your iPhone battery can hold only 80 percent or less of its original capacity, we'll service your product at no charge.

Screen repair

If your iPhone screen is broken, we  might be able to fix it.  The cost to repair it depends on your iPhone model, any additional damage, and if you have AppleCare+ coverage. Damage caused by accident or abuse isn’t covered by the Apple warranty. If your screen cracks due to a manufacturing defect, it’s covered by the Apple warranty and consumer law.

AppleCare+ for iPhone includes up to two incidents of accidental damage, each with a service fee. You can use an incident for screen repair. If you don’t have AppleCare+, we might be able to repair your broken screen for an out-of-warranty fee.

We'll run a diagnostic test to see if your iPhone needs any other repairs. If it does, we'll let you know.

Apple accessories

Apple-branded accessories, including the power adapter, are covered by our warranty and consumer law. The Apple-branded accessories that come in the box with your product are also covered by your AppleCare+ plan. For service details, contact Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider.

Get ready for iPhone service

  • Back up your iPhone with iCloud or iTunes. You'll need the backup to restore your content if we have to reset or replace your iPhone.
  • Make sure you know your Apple ID and password.

If you send in your iPhone, take these additional steps:

  • If your iPhone has a SIM card, take it out and keep it.
  • Keep your cables and other accessories when you get service.

After service

When you get your iPhone back from service, it might have a new operating system. If your iPhone uses a SIM card, put it in. Turn on your iPhone and follow the steps you see on the screen. When you finish the setup, restore your data from your backup.

We guarantee our service, including replacement parts, for 90 days or the remaining term of your Apple warranty or AppleCare+ coverage, whichever is longer. This is in addition to rights provided by consumer law. We offer this whenever you get service from us or from an Apple Authorized Service Provider.

Express Replacement Service

We know how much you rely on your iPhone. If you need to replace it immediately, our Express Replacement Service offers speedy delivery. We can send you a replacement iPhone right away and include packaging to return your original product.

Express Replacement Service is included as a benefit of AppleCare+. The service delivers your replacement iPhone faster, but it doesn’t cover any costs for your product, such as replacement or late fees. After we get your original device, we’ll determine those fees. Meanwhile, you can start using your replacement iPhone.
