Problems using Classwork offline
If you have trouble while using the Classwork app without an Internet connection, try these suggestions.
You need an Internet connection to add, edit, remove and archive or delete a class.
You need an Internet connection to send an assignment or assessment. If your Internet connection is interrupted, you can save assignments (without file attachments) and assessments as drafts to send at a later time.
Changes you make on a device (for example, editing a class name) aren’t reflected on other devices until you re-establish an internet connection.
You need an internet connection to sync teachers, student and class information in Apple School Manager. If your internet connection is interrupted, Classwork can’t sync this information. Once a connection is re-established, information in Apple School Manager is automatically synced with Classwork.
If a student is working offline (not connected to the Internet), Classwork continues to collect progress data, mark activities as complete and mark assessments as turned in on the student’s device. However, you can’t view this information until the student re-establishes an Internet connection.
Students need an internet connection to submit a hand-in request, mark an activity as Done or turn in an assessment, but they can work on files previously downloaded to their devices. If a student’s Internet connection is interrupted, the student can continue working but can’t turn in work. Once a connection is re-established, the student can turn in their work.
If Classwork is unable to open a file, upload a file, mark an activity as Done or turn in an assessment, make sure your device is connected to the internet and iCloud Drive is turned on, then try again. If the issue continues, contact your IT administrator or Apple Support.
