Listen to music together using SharePlay in Apple Music on the web
When you use Apple Music on the web, you can join a SharePlay session from CarPlay to listen to music together with others in a car.
Note: You must be signed in with your Apple ID, but you don’t need to subscribe to Apple Music to participate in a SharePlay session. Only the driver needs to be an Apple Music subscriber.
To use SharePlay in the car, the driver begins playing music from their iPhone (with iOS 17 or later) using CarPlay or Bluetooth® and then starts the SharePlay session. A QR code is generated, which passengers use to join the SharePlay session.
Get the QR code from the person who generated it (for example, the driver). Or, if you’re in the car and can access the Now Playing screen in CarPlay, tap the SharePlay button to display the QR code on the CarPlay screen.
Open the Camera app on your device, point your camera at the QR code, then click the Music URL that appears below the QR code to request the connection.
Follow the on-screen instructions to connect to SharePlay.
After the driver accepts your request to connect, the SharePlay session opens in music.apple.com/au .
While listening together, do any of the following:
Control the playback (pause the music, go to the next song and more): Click the buttons in the playback controls.
Manage the shared Up Next queue: Add songs, albums and playlists to the queue, remove music and more. See Queue up your songs.
View lyrics: View the lyrics, including the Full-Screen Player. See View song lyrics.
Invite another participant to the session: Click the SharePlay button , then share the QR code with another person.
Note: The number in the SharePlay button indicates how many people are listening together.
To leave the SharePlay session, click the SharePlay button , then click Leave.
