
Manage playgrounds in Swift Playground on iPad
From the Swift Playground welcome screen, you can view the playgrounds you’ve downloaded or created by tapping Recents. You can add, duplicate, rename, share, or delete playground books or app playgrounds. You can also reset playground books.

View playgrounds you’ve downloaded or created
In the Swift Playground app on your iPad, tap Recents on the welcome screen.
If you’re on the More Playgrounds screen or working in a playground or an app playground, tap at the top left.
Open a playground
In the Swift Playground app on your iPad, tap Recents on the welcome screen to view your existing playgrounds, then tap a playground to open it.
If you’re on the More Playgrounds screen or working in another playground or an app playground, tap at the top left.
Note: If the playground you want to open isn’t in Recents (if, for example, you received it from someone else), tap Browse, tap , then search for the playground by entering part or all of its name in the search field.
Add or delete a playground
In the Swift Playground app
on your iPad, tap Recents on the welcome screen to view your existing playgrounds.
Do any of the following:
Add a playground: Tap Learn to Code to view the More Playgrounds screen, or tap New Playground to create a new one.
Delete a playground: Touch and hold the playground, then tap Delete in the menu that opens.
Duplicate or rename a playground
In the Swift Playground app
on your iPad, tap Recents on the welcome screen to view your existing playgrounds.
If you’re on the More Playgrounds screen or working in a playground or an app playground, tap
at the top left.
Do any of the following:
Duplicate a playground: Touch and hold the playground, then tap Duplicate in the menu that opens.
Rename a playground: Touch and hold the playground, tap Rename in the menu that opens, then use the keyboard to enter a new name.
Search for or view additional playgrounds
In the Swift Playground app
on your iPad, tap
on the welcome screen, then enter part or all of the name of the playground in the search field at the top right.
Only playgrounds whose names contain your search text appear.
If you’re working in an app or an app playground, tap
at the top left.
Note: After you update to a new version of Swift Playground, you may need to update your existing playground books to work with the new version. If you have a playground book that worked in an older version of Swift Playground but not in the new version, try closing the book, closing Swift Playground, and then reopening them. If that doesn’t work, tap Learn to Code, then tap Get to download a new copy of the playground.
