Change your Apple ID email or password
If you no longer use the email address that’s associated with your Apple ID, you can change it. You can also change or reset your Apple ID password.
Note: In some countries or regions, you can use your mobile phone number as your Apple ID. See the Apple Support article Use your mobile phone number as your Apple ID.
Do any of the following:
Change your Apple ID: You can change the email address that’s associated with your Apple ID on the Apple ID account website. Sign in with your current Apple ID, then click the Edit button in the Accounts section. For detailed instructions, see the Apple Support article Change your Apple ID.
Change your Apple ID password: If you know your current Apple ID password and want to change it, you can do so from an iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Mac that’s signed in with your Apple ID. You can also change your password on the Apple ID account website. See the Apple Support article Change your Apple ID password.
Reset your Apple ID password: If you forget your password and need to reset it, see the Apple Support article If you forgot your Apple ID password.
The next time you use Apple features and services that require an Apple ID, you’re asked to sign in with your new Apple ID and password. See the Apple Support article Where can I use my Apple ID?
If you use your iCloud Mail account with an email app other than Mail on an iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Mac, you need to change your password in that other app, too. If you created an app-specific password, you need to generate a new one. See the Apple Support article Using app-specific passwords.
