Set up a connection to the internet on Mac
Before you start setting up your internet connection, make sure you have the account information you received from your ISP. See Information you need to connect to the internet.
On your Mac, enter your connection settings into Network settings, depending on the type of connection and service you have.
Wi-Fi connections: If you use Wi-Fi to connect to the internet, enter your Wi-Fi connection settings. See Connect your Mac to the internet using Wi-Fi.
Ethernet with a DSL or cable modem: If you connect to the internet using Ethernet, either to a DSL or cable modem, or to a local area network (LAN) that’s already connected to the internet, enter your Ethernet settings in Network settings. See Connect your Mac to the internet using Ethernet or Connect your Mac to the internet using a cable modem.
PPPoE: If you have a cable modem and use a Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet (PPPoE) account with your ISP, enter your PPPoE settings in Network settings. See Connect your Mac to the internet using PPPoE.
