Mac firmware revive and restore
In macOS 14 or later, you can also help users revive or restore a Mac from the Finder. Reviving or restoring firmware might also help if a Mac experiences a persistent macOS installation error not resolved by other solutions for macOS installation errors.
If you can’t start up a Mac with firmware issues
- What to look for: - Starts up to an exclamation point in a circle. 
- Shows the status indicator light pattern for firmware recovery mode. 
- Turns on but starts up to a blank screen. - Note: There are also other causes and solutions for a blank screen.
