Connect an external display to MacBook Neo
You can connect an external display, projector, or a high-resolution TV to your MacBook Neo.
Step 1: Identify the video ports on your MacBook Neo
You have two USB-C ports on your MacBook Neo. Connect a display to the left port, a USB 3 port with DisplayPort 1.4 that supports video output.

For more information on the different ports on your MacBook Neo, see Take a tour of MacBook Neo.
Step 2: Make sure your display is supported
Your MacBook Neo supports one external display with up to 4K resolution at 60Hz.*
Check the documentation that came with your display to know which resolutions and refresh rates it uses.
Note: Displays that use only Thunderbolt aren’t compatible with MacBook Neo. If your Thunderbolt display also uses another standard—like DisplayPort 1.4 or USB 3—it’s compatible with MacBook Neo. If you connect a device that uses only Thunderbolt, an alert appears.
Step 3: Make sure you have the correct cable
If your display came with a cable that matches the port on your MacBook Neo: Use that cable to connect the display.
If your display doesn’t have a cable: Obtain the required cables. Check the documentation that came with your display to get more information on the display’s video ports and cables.
If you have the cable that came with your display, but the connector doesn’t match the port on your MacBook Neo: You may be able to use an adapter (sold separately). Visit apple.com, your local Apple Store, or other resellers for more information and availability.
Review the display’s documentation or check with the display’s manufacturer to make sure you choose the right product.
If you need an adapter, see Adapters for the Thunderbolt or USB-C port on your Mac to identify what type of adapter you need, see what it looks like, and learn what it can be used for.
Step 4: Connect your display
If your display needs to be connected to power, plug it in. Connect your display to the USB 3 port (left port) on your MacBook Neo.
After your display is connected, you may want to adjust its settings. Open System Settings, then click Displays in the sidebar to see your display’s settings, including resolution, brightness, and color profile.
You can use an external display, as well as connected accessories, with your MacBook Neo when the lid is closed.
Note: If you connect an external display and it’s dark, make sure that you’ve connected the display to the USB 3 port (left port).
