Convert closed captions to subtitles in Final Cut Pro for Mac
In Final Cut Pro, you can convert closed captions to subtitles.
You can use the Duplicate Captions to Subtitles command to create a duplicate set of captions in the subtitle format with the Subtitles role assigned, while keeping a copy of the closed captions in the original format.
In the Final Cut Pro timeline, select the closed captions that you want to convert.
Tip: To select all the closed captions in a language subrole, select any closed caption, then press Command-A. To select everything in the timeline, press Command-A again.
Do one of the following:
Control-click the selected closed captions, then choose Duplicate Captions to Subtitles.
Choose Edit > Closed Captions > Duplicate Captions to Subtitles.
The new subtitles appear in the timeline as connected title clips, with the Subtitles role assigned. The subtitles are created using the default Subtitle title (in the Subtitles category of the Titles and Generators sidebar).
Tip: If you no longer need the original closed captions, turn off the captions role in the timeline index or delete the closed captions from the timeline.
