Create a network responsiveness report in Remote Desktop
Remote Desktop can test network responsiveness between your administrator computer and client computers. You can use the report to help determine whether task failures, such as Copy Items tasks, are due to network congestion on a particular subnet.
In Remote Desktop , select a computer list in the sidebar of the main window, select one or more computers, then choose Report > Network Test.
Select the following options:
In the Packets pop-up menu (Total Packets to Send), specify the number of packets sent.
In the Interval pop-up menu (Interval Between Packets), specify how often to send the packets.
In the Time Out pop-up menu (Packet Time Out), specify how long to wait before reporting a packet as lost.
Click Get Report.
Here are some suggestions for evaluating your network performance based on this report:
The number of router hops can affect the time the packets take to return.
When you evaluate the times, compare them to the times for a computer on the same subnet or with the same number of intervening routers.
If the maximum time for a packet to return is significantly greater than other computers on the same subnet, there may be a problem with the computer.
If a single computer has a large number of lost packets, there may be a network connection problem.
If several computers on the same subnet have a large number of lost packets, there may be a problem with an intervening router or switch.
