Preview stereoscopic video in Compressor
By default, a stereoscopic job in Compressor shows a preview of the hero eye. You can switch between left- and right-eye views, or show the views for both the left and right eyes simultaneously using anaglyph preview.
Note: Working with MV-HEVC encoded video requires a Mac with Apple silicon and macOS 14 or later. Other systems treat MV-HEVC stereoscopic video as monoscopic HEVC files, using only the hero eye.
In a stereoscopic job in the Compressor batch area, do one of the following:
Select the source media.
Select the output row that includes the preset you want to preview.
Note: If you’re previewing stereoscopic video that uses separate files for each eye, make sure the Comparison button
in the preview area is turned off.
Click the View menu (in the upper-right corner of the preview area) and choose an option:
Left eye: Shows just the view for the left eye.
Right eye: Shows just the view for the right eye.
Note: The default eye view is labeled “(Hero).”
If the stereoscopic source media uses separate left- and right-eye files, changing the View option switches between the two files. For frame-packed stereoscopic source media, changing the View option shows you the portion of the image designated for the left or right eye.
Anaglyph: Shows a simultaneous view from both eyes. The red channel for the left eye and the blue and green channels for the right eye are composited together.
Anaglyph Monochrome: Shows the anaglyph view in grayscale. This view makes it easier to see the image in stereo without interference from bold colors in the scene.
Anaglyph Outline: Shows edges in a stereoscopic image. Edges with red on the left side indicate positive parallax, and edges with red on the right indicate negative parallax. This is the most precise view for assessing the actual parallax in a scene.
For Anaglyph and Anaglyph Outline views, you can use standard red/cyan anaglyph glasses to preview the video in stereo 3D.
If you don’t see stereoscopic preview options in the View menu, make sure your stereoscopic and spatial properties are set up correctly in the Job inspector.
