Enter characters using the Kana Table on Mac
After you set up a Japanese input source, you can enter hiragana, katakana, and romaji by using the Kana Table instead of the keyboard.
In an app on your Mac, switch to a Japanese input source.
Click the Input menu in the menu bar, then choose Type Using Kana Table.
In the Kana Table, click the あ (hiragana), ア (katakana), or A (romaji) tab.
Click the character you want to enter.
