View events performed by a workflow in Automator on Mac

As a workflow runs, each action can trigger a series of events. There are several ways you can observe the events being performed by the actions in a workflow. This can be useful in editing and troubleshooting your workflows.

Open Automator for me

In the Automator app on your Mac, do one of the following:

  • Look at the log at the bottom of the workflow window. Choose View > Log to open it.

  • Place the View Results action (from the Utilities category) in the workflow. The View Results action displays the results or output passed from the previous action. By placing the View Results action in the workflow between two actions, you can see the data that is flowing through the workflow at that point.
