Generator effects in Pixelmator Pro on Mac

Pixelmator Pro includes Generator effects to create patterns, shapes, and atmospheric elements that can be added to your composition:

Checkerboard generates customizable checkerboard patterns.
Stripes creates adjustable stripe patterns.
Halo adds colored halo effects.
Star generates starbursts with customizable cross patterns and spikes.
Sunbeams creates customizable sun effects.
Clouds generates two-color soft cloud patterns.

Generator effects controls

Generator effects have the following adjustment controls in the Effects pane. You can access the controls after applying an effect to a layer or adding an effects layer.

Control	Used in these effects	Description
Color well	Checkerboard, Stripes, Halo, Star, Sunbeams, Clouds	Click the color well to choose colors for various effect attributes.
Width, Halo Width, Cross Width	Checkerboard, Stripes, Clouds, Halo, Star	Drag these sliders to adjust the size of individual elements within generated effects—for example, the size of individual clouds within the Clouds effect.
Sharpness	Checkerboard, Stripes	Drag this slider to adjust the sharpness of pattern edges.
Halo Radius, Radius, Sun Radius	Halo, Star, Sunbeams	Drag these sliders to adjust the overall size of generated effect.
Epsilon, Maximum Striation Radius	Star, Sunbeams	Drag these sliders to adjust the length of star points or sun rays.
Time	Halo, Sunbeams	Drag this slider to regenerate the pattern with different random variations.
Halo Overlap	Halo	Drag this slider to adjust how much the red, green, and blue halos overlap.
Striation Strength	Halo, Sunbeams	Drag this slider to adjust the intensity of the color striations.
Striation Contrast	Halo, Sunbeams	Drag this slider to adjust the contrast of the color striations.
Cross Scale	Star	Drag this slider to adjust the size of the cross pattern within the star.
Cross Angle	Star	Rotate this wheel to adjust the angle of the cross pattern.
Cross Opacity	Star	Drag this slider to adjust the transparency of the cross pattern.
Opacity	All Generator effects	Drag these sliders to adjust the transparency of the generated effect.
Blend mode	All Generator effects	Click next to the Opacity slider to set a blend mode for the effect.
Effect ropes	All Generator effects	Drag these onscreen controls to position the effect center point and adjust scale and rotation. If effect ropes aren’t visible, click in the Effects pane.
