Customize the toolbar in Numbers on Mac
The toolbar at the top of the window gives you quick access to the controls you need. As you discover which controls you use most, you can add, remove, and rearrange toolbar buttons to suit your work style. You can change how the buttons appear in the toolbar.
Tip: Hover the pointer over a button to see a description of what it does.

Hide or show the toolbar
Go to the Numbers app
on your Mac.Open a spreadsheet, click View in the menu bar at the top of your screen, then choose Hide Toolbar or Show Toolbar.
Add, remove, or rearrange toolbar buttons
Go to the Numbers app
on your Mac.Open a spreadsheet, click View in the menu bar at the top of your screen, then choose Customize Toolbar (you may need to scroll down to see it).
Do any of the following:
Add or remove items from the toolbar: Drag an item to the toolbar to add it. Drag an item away from the toolbar to remove it.
Rearrange items in the toolbar: Drag an item to reorder it. The Format and Organize buttons move together and can’t be separated.
Reset the toolbar: To restore the toolbar to the default setting, drag the set of buttons at the bottom of the window to the toolbar.
Click Done.
Hide or show the toolbar
By default, Numbers shows only the button icons in the toolbar. You can add the button names to the toolbar to help you remember what the icons represent, or show only the names to save space.
Go to the Numbers app
on your Mac.Open a spreadsheet, click View in the menu bar at the top of your screen, then choose Customize Toolbar (you may need to scroll down to see it).
Click the pop-up menu at the bottom left, then choose one of the following:
Icon and Text: The button icons and names appear in the toolbar.
Icon Only: The button icons appear without their names in the toolbar.
Text Only: The button names appear without their icons in the toolbar.
Click Done.
