
Find intersections for equations in Grapher on Mac
You can click any point of an equation on a graph to view an approximate intersection.
Find the intersection of two equations
- In the Grapher app  on your Mac, create or open a graph. on your Mac, create or open a graph.
- Select two equations, then choose Equation > Find Intersection. 
- Enter the point closest to the intersection in the Initial Value field. - Automatically calculated values appear in the list below the Initial Value field. 
- Do any of the following: - View the intersection point on the graph: Select Position. 
- Change the colour of the intersection point: Click the colour well next to Position. 
 
Find where an equation intersects the axis
- In the Grapher app  on your Mac, create or open a graph. on your Mac, create or open a graph.
- Select an equation, then choose Equation > Find Root. 
- Click the Find pop-up menu, then choose Root. 
- Enter the point to evaluate in the Initial Value field. - Automatically calculated values appear in the list below the Initial Value field. 
- Do any of the following: - Find the local extremum or the inflection point: Click the Find pop-up menu, then choose what you want to calculate. 
- View related equations on the graph: Select equations listed under Display. 
- Change the colour of related equations: Click the colour well next to the equation. 
- Add selected related equations to the graph: Click Stroke.
