Tell Apple Music on Mac what you like
You can make a song or album a favourite so that you can easily find and play it again later. If you dislike a song or album, you can receive fewer suggestions for similar music.
Mark songs or albums you like or don’t like
Go to the Music app
on your Mac.
Click an option (Albums or Songs, for example) below Library in the sidebar.
Do one of the following:
Navigate to an item (such as a song or album), move the pointer over the item, click
, then choose Favourite, Dislike or Suggest Less.
Click
,
, or
to switch between the options.
Telling Apple Music what you like and dislike improves future recommendations.
Note: All your favourite songs and albums are automatically organised in one place — the Favourite Songs playlist (below Playlists in the sidebar).
Rate music in your library
Go to the Music app
on your Mac.
Choose Music > Settings, then click General.
Turn on Star ratings.
To rate a song, click Songs below Library, scroll to the Rating column, then choose a rating from one to five stars.
Song ratings sync to all devices that are signed in to the same Apple Account.
Tell Apple Music to ignore your listening habits
You can turn off your listening history so that Apple Music ignores your listening habits, and adjusts new music recommendations and the contents of Replay playlists.
Go to the Music app
on your Mac.
Choose Music > Settings, then click General.
Turn off Use Listening History.
This action also hides all the music you play from your followers on Apple Music. To hide only certain playlists or albums, see Hide music from your followers.
Tip: You can create a custom Focus to turn off Use Listening History. For example, if you’re a parent listening to your favourite songs and your child wants to listen to something they like, you can turn on that Focus so their songs don’t influence your recommendations.
