
Manage notifications from News on Mac
Many channels in Apple News send notifications about breaking news or important stories. You can choose to receive notifications for only certain channels. You can also change how the notifications appear or turn them off altogether.
Note: Apple News isn’t available in all countries or regions. See the Apple Support article Availability of Apple Media Services.
Receive notifications from a channel
To make sure notifications are on for News, go to the System Settings app
, click News, then turn on “Allow notifications.”
Go to the News app
on your Mac.
Choose File > Manage Notifications & Email.
Turn notifications on for a channel, then click
.
Stop notifications from a channel
Go to the News app
on your Mac.
Choose File > Manage Notifications & Email.
Turn notifications off for a channel, then click
.
Change how you get notifications from News
Go to the System Settings app
on your Mac.
Click Notifications
in the sidebar. (You may need to scroll down.)
Click News (below Application Notifications).
Turn on or off the notification options you want.

Note: To display notifications from News when a Focus is on, you must allow the notifications to appear. See Set up a Focus.
Turn off all News notifications
Go to the System Settings app
on your Mac.
Click Notifications in the sidebar. (You may need to scroll down.)
Click News (below Application Notifications).
Turn off “Allow notifications.”
Use News widgets
You can use News widgets to keep an eye on breaking news and stories about specific topics, such as Science or Travel. You can add News widgets to Notification Center or your Mac desktop.
There are two types of News widgets:
Topic widgets: Customize to display stories about specific topics.
Today widgets: Keep track of today’s news, including top stories.
