Generate or choose a supervision identity
You can use Apple Configurator 2 to create a supervision identity that contains the identity and the name of your organization—and optionally, a phone number, an email address, and a physical mailing address.
Do one of the following:
If it doesn’t matter to you what the supervision identity should be, select “Generate a new supervision identity.”
If you have a specific identity you want to use, select “Choose an existing supervision identity,” click Next, then choose your identity from the Keychain.
Important: Use your own file only if you understand certificate chains and have tested your solution thoroughly.
Do one of the following:
If you’re completing this task by choosing Apple Configurator 2 > Preferences > Organizations, click Done, then enter your administrator password.
If you’re completing this task using the Prepare Assistant, click Next.
Important: If you change a supervision identity, you must start over—that is, you must erase, prepare, and supervise the devices again. The actual name of the supervision identity often isn’t critical, but you need to standardize on the use of that identity for all instances of mobile device management (MDM) and Apple Configurator 2.
