Show your current location in Maps on Mac
Maps uses your location to help you find directions from where you are to where you want to go, and shows businesses, restaurants, and other places of interest that are nearby.
Allow Maps to use your location
If a message says that Maps can’t use your current location, you need to turn on Location Services in System Settings.
Go to the System Settings app
on your Mac.
Click Privacy & Security
in the sidebar. (You may need to scroll down.)
Click Location Services, turn on Location Services, then turn on Maps.
Show your location on the map
Go to the Maps app
on your Mac.
Click
near the top right of the map.
A dot appears on the map at your location.
To share your current location, Control-click the dot, choose Share, then choose a sharing option. To share your location as you move, see Share your location in Find My on iPhone or Share your location in Find My on iPad.
Turn off your current location
You can turn off Location Services for all apps on your Mac or just for Maps.
Go to the System Settings app
on your Mac.
Click Privacy & Security
in the sidebar. (You may need to scroll down.)
Click Location Services, then turn off Maps. You can also turn off Location Services for all apps.
