
Edit text and email signatures in Mail on Mac
You can edit the font and style of your text, include special symbols, create email signatures, and use Apple Intelligence* to format your emails.
Change fonts and styles
Go to the Mail app
on your Mac.In a new message window, click
in the toolbar.
Click the button for an option you want to use.
More formatting options are available in the Format menu in the menu bar.
Include emoji, characters and symbols
Go to the Mail app
on your Mac.In a new message window, do any of the following:
Click
in the toolbar, or choose Edit > Emoji & Symbols. You can use the Character Viewer to add emoticons or symbols, and type characters in different languages, such as Arabic or Japanese. See Use emoji and symbols.
If Apple Intelligence* is turned on, you can create custom emoji, called Genmoji. See Create your own emoji with Genmoji.
Type accent marks or diacritical marks. See Enter characters with accent marks.
Create email signatures
You can create prepared text, called a signature, to include when you send email messages. For example, you can create one signature for your work email and another signature for your personal email.

Go to the Mail app
on your Mac.Choose Mail > Settings, then click Signatures.
In the left column (account list), select the email account where you want to use the signature.
If All Signatures is selected when you create a signature, you need to drag the new signature to the desired email account before you can use it.
Click
below the middle column (signature list), then type a name for the signature.This name appears in the Signature pop-up menu when you write a message.
In the right column (the preview), do any of the following to create your signature:
Edit your text: Click Edit in the menu bar to paste text, turn text into links, and check spelling and grammar.
Format your text: Click Format in the menu bar to change the font and color, change text alignment, and add lists.
Add an image: Drag an image into the preview area.
If you want your signature to appear after the original text of messages you reply to or forward, deselect the “Place signature above quoted text” checkbox.
Use Writing Tools to summarize, proofread, and modify your email
With Apple Intelligence,* you can use Writing Tools to summarize selected text with a click, proofread your work, and create different versions of the same text to help you find the right wording and tone. See Use Writing Tools with Apple Intelligence.
