Hardware
Secure Apple products begin with a secure hardware foundation. That’s why Apple devices—using iOS, iPadOS, macOS, tvOS, or watchOS—have security capabilities designed into silicon.

Operating systems
Building on the capabilities of Apple hardware, Apple operating systems are designed to take full advantage of these security capabilities. Operating system certifications encompass the boot-up process, software updates, and the ongoing operation of the operating systems.

Apps
Apps that run on Apple operating systems can use the security capabilities that are provided by the device. App certifications give assurance that specific Apple apps are properly using the device security capabilities.

Services
Apple maintains security certifications over a number of its service offerings to provide security assurance to others. The certifications cover security controls used in the data center environment and controls that are part of the security life cycle of these services at Apple.
