Delete books or audiobooks from your Mac in Books

1. Go to the Books app  on your Mac.

2. Click a collection below Library in the sidebar.

3. If the item you want to remove is part of a series, open the series.

4. Click , click Remove, then choose an option. Options may include:

   • Remove from Collection: Removes the item from the currently selected collection.

   • Remove from Want to Read: Removes the item from the Want to Read collection.

   • Remove from My Samples: Removes the item from the My Samples collection.

   • Remove Download: If you’re signed in to your Apple Account, you can remove downloads from your library on Mac. The book, audiobook, or PDF may still be visible.

     Note: Items you purchased from the Book Store or Audiobook Store are still stored in iCloud, even if you remove them from your Mac. The item appears in your library with an iCloud status icon . You can download purchased books and audiobooks again.

   • Hide Book: If you’re signed in to your Apple Account, you can hide a purchased item so it never appears in your library on any device. See Hide and unhide purchased books and audiobooks.

   • Remove Everywhere: If you’re signed in to your Apple Account, you can delete samples and unpurchased books from your Want to Read collection on all the devices signed in to your Apple Account, and from your library on Mac. The book, audiobook, or PDF is no longer visible.

   • Delete: If you’re not signed in to your Apple Account, you can delete downloads from your library on Mac. The book, audiobook, or PDF is no longer visible.

You can choose whether to automatically remove downloaded books, audiobooks, or PDFs when you finish them.

1. Go to the Books app  on your Mac.

2. Click a collection below Library in the sidebar.

3. Click in the top-right corner, choose Remove Downloads, then choose one of the following:

   • Automatically When Finished: Finished books and audiobooks are removed from this collection automatically.

   • Manually: Finished books and audiobooks remain in this collection until you remove them.

1. Go to the Books app  on your Mac.

2. Click Home in the sidebar.

3. Move the pointer over a title, click , then choose one of the following:

   • Remove from Continue: Removes the item from the Continue section, but it remains in your library.

   • Remove: Choose Remove Download or Hide Book in the dialog that appears.
