Introduction to security and privacy of Health app data Share with Provider
Apple’s Health app data Share with Provider enables Health app users to share select categories of their Health app data with healthcare Providers, and it enables clinicians to view shared Health data in their clinical workflows. Health app data Share with Provider is architected to meet security standards and protocols in compliance with applicable regulatory standards, including HIPAA. Apple offers a standardized Business Associate Agreement (BAA) for Customers that are subject to HIPAA and use the Service for End-User Data that’s transmitted, stored, and accessed in the Health Sharing Cloud in connection with the HIPAA Covered Services. Customers that execute a BAA may only process, store, and transmit End-User Data in connection with the HIPAA Covered Services.
Apple builds security, privacy, and anonymity into the core of its platforms. Every Apple device combines hardware, software, and services to work together for a secure and transparent user experience. All systems that form part of Health app data Share with Provider are engineered to protect the privacy and security of End Users and their data. As with all Apple products and services, Health app data Share with Provider was developed to give End Users control over their information.
This chapter outlines the administrative, technical, and physical safeguards that are embedded into the design of Health app data Share with Provider to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of data.
