Insert special characters
You can add special characters, characters in other languages, and symbols to TextEdit documents.
Note: When you edit a rich text document, TextEdit automatically replaces straight quotes and double hyphens with curly quotes and em dashes. To learn how to change this preference, see Use curly quotation marks and em dashes automatically.
