Use a mobile phone to connect your Mac to the internet
If your mobile phone has Bluetooth, you might be able to use your phone as a modem to connect your Mac to the internet. You can also use an iPhone or iPad to connect your Mac to the internet by setting up a Personal Hotspot.
Note: This feature may not be available with all carriers.
If your mobile phone isn’t already connected with your Mac, choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Bluetooth .
Select your phone in the Devices list. If this device is new to your Mac, click Connect. If you have previously connected this device, double-click it to connect.
Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, click Network , then click Bluetooth PAN in the list on the left.
If Bluetooth PAN isn’t available, click the Add button , click the Interface pop-up menu, then choose Bluetooth PAN.
Click the Device pop-up menu, choose your phone, then click Connect.
Note: If a six-digit number appears on your Mac and cell phone, follow your cell phone manufacturer’s directions for pairing with a Bluetooth device.
