Add text to a spreadsheet in Numbers for iCloud
Many templates include placeholder text that you can simply type over. To place text elsewhere, you can add a new text box and type in it.
You can also add text in table cells, or inside shapes.
Replace placeholder text
Most Numbers for iCloud templates contain placeholder text to give you an idea of what a spreadsheet created with this template might look like. The placeholder text also shows you the text styles used in the spreadsheet.
Place the insertion point in the placeholder text and type.
To delete placeholder text, click to select it, then press Delete.
Add text in a new text box
To add new text to a spreadsheet that appears apart from other elements, add a text box.
Click the Text button in the toolbar.
A text box appears on the spreadsheet.
Drag the text box to position it on the sheet.
With the text box selected (its border is blue), type to replace placeholder text.
To align text horizontally or vertically, select the text, then click an Alignment button in the Text pane of the Format sidebar on the right.
To delete a text box, select it, then press Delete.
You can also change the appearance of the text inside a text box, or place an object inside a shape so it appears inline with the text.
