Turn on three finger drag for your Mac trackpad

The ability to drag items using a three-finger gesture is an option for trackpads that support Force Touch.

The setting names vary based on the version of macOS you're using:

  1. Choose Apple menu  > System Settings (or System Preferences).

  2. Click Accessibility.

  3. Click Pointer Control (or Mouse & Trackpad).

  4. Click the Trackpad Options button.

  5. Turn on “Use trackpad for dragging” (or “Enable dragging”).

  6. From the pop-up menu, choose the “three finger drag” dragging style.

  7. Click OK.
