Send and accept a friend request in the Apple Games app

Find your Game Center friends in the Apple Games app on iPhone, iPad, and Mac to play games together, share your achievements and high scores, and more.

Before you begin

Make sure that you upgrade your device to the latest version of iOS, iPadOS, or macOS.

Add a friend

  1. Open the Apple Games app. If prompted, sign in to your Apple Account and your Game Center account.

  2. Tap or click Friends, then tap or click the Add Friend button at the top of the screen.

  3. Find a contact by entering their name, then tap or click Invite.

On an iPhone, the Apple Games app is open and search results for a contact are shown. To the right of the contact, there is an Invite button.

You can also send an invitation to one of your Friend Suggestions, which may include people from your contacts or people you have played with in Challenges or multiplayer games.

After you tap Invite, Game Center sends an invitation notification to your friend's device. If your friend has an older version of iOS, iPadOS, or macOS, you can send them an invitation in Messages.

Accept a friend request in the Games app

  1. Open the Apple Games app.

  2. Tap or click Friends to see your Friend Requests.

  3. Tap or click Accept next to each person you would like to be friends with.

  1. Open the Messages app.

  2. Find the message with your Game Center friend request.

  3. Tap or click Accept in the invitation link.

Help friends find you in the Games app

Allow your Game Center friends to identify you more easily by the email address and phone number associated with your Apple Account.

  1. Do one of the following:

    • On iPhone or iPad, open Settings, then tap Game Center.

    • On Mac, choose Apple menu  > System Settings, then click Game Center.

  2. Turn on Help Friends Find You.

Limit the friend requests you receive

If you don't want to receive friend requests from people you don't know, you can choose to only receive requests from your contacts.

  1. Open the Apple Games app.

  2. Tap or click your avatar at the top of the screen.

  3. Select Friend Requests.

  4. Turn on Allow Requests from Contacts Only.

    On an iPhone, the Apple Games app is open and the Allow Requests from Contacts Only setting is shown as turned off at the top of the screen.

Remove friends or report Game Center users

  1. Open the Apple Games app.

  2. Tap or click your avatar at the top of the screen.

  3. Select All Friends to see a list of users who you're friends with and who you've recently played with.

  4. Tap or click the user you'd like to remove or report, then do one of the following:

    • On iPhone or iPad, tap the More button at the top of the screen.

    • On Mac, click the More button at the bottom of the screen.

  5. Select Remove Friend to stop being friends with someone in Game Center. This removes you from their list of friends as well. To report a profile for cheating, inappropriate content, or another issue, select Report User and follow the onscreen instructions.
