Remove or hide an image background in Pixelmator Pro on Mac
You can quickly remove the background from an image with the Remove Background feature in Pixelmator Pro. Remove Background works best for images with solid colored backgrounds, such as a product shot taken in a studio, or a studio portrait. For images with busier backgrounds, Remove Background can help isolate your subject, but you may need to do additional work to remove the background completely. You can also use Remove Background to mask (hide) the background in an image instead of deleting it.
In Pixelmator Pro on Mac, select a layer in the Layers sidebar.
Do either of the following:
Remove the background from an image: Click
in the toolbar.
Pixelmator Pro automatically deletes the background.
Hide the background in an image: While pressing and holding the Option key, click
in the toolbar.
Pixelmator Pro automatically adds a layer mask to hide the background.
Important: If you use Remove Background on a layer group, Pixelmator Pro creates a layer mask, hiding the background instead of deleting it. To delete the background, you can use Remove Background on each layer within the group individually.
