About Apple displays and mercury
As part of its ongoing environmental efforts, Apple eliminated the use of mercury in its products in 2009. Older iMac, iBook, PowerBook, MacBook, and MacBook Pro computers, as well as Cinema Displays, may have used flat-panel displays with backlight technology that required extremely low quantities of mercury.
To protect human health and the environment, it is important to properly dispose of all electronic products, especially those containing mercury. To find out about Apple’s recycling and product take-back programs, visit the Apple Renew and Recycling website.
