Information you need to connect your Mac to the internet
To connect to the internet, or to a network connected to the internet, you need to enter the information you received from either your ISP or the administrator of the network you’re connecting to.
Depending on the type of network service you’re using (for example, Ethernet or Wi-Fi), the information may vary.
Your user or account name and password
Whether you receive an IP address manually or automatically using DHCP
Your IP address, the subnet mask, and router address (for manual configurations)
Your DHCP service name, if it’s required by your service provider
The address to the Domain Name System (DNS) server, if you were given one
