Apply to be a vendor for Health Records
Use Apple Business Register to get listed as a supported vendor so that healthcare organizations (your customers) can participate in Health Records, enabling their patients to see their own data in the Health app on iPhone and iPad.
When you apply to be a vendor, Apple confirms the following:
The Health app can securely connect to your sandbox FHIR API endpoint.
The patient experience is intuitive and seamless.
Health records data is correctly parsed in the Health app.
Note: The steps below apply to technology companies that build FHIR and EHR platforms. If you represent a healthcare organization wanting to provide health records to your patients, see Prepare to register for Health Records instead.
Before you begin
Supported vendors must:
Serve customers in the United States, Canada, or the United Kingdom (Health Records isn’t available in other countries.)
Support customers using patient access FHIR APIs in their production environment
Use FHIR version R4 (v4.0.1) in accordance with US Core Implementation Guide v3.1.1
Implement OAuth 2.0 patient authentication—for EHRs, Apple recommends using patient portal credentials as the patient authorization mechanism when users connect in the Health app
Provide unique FHIR base URLs—or, if all your customers have the same base URL, use unique client keys
Set up a sandbox in a production environment similar to what your customers use
If you’re an EHR vendor, three or more customers must participate in your pilot. For each customer you invite, collect the healthcare organization’s name and address, their administrative contact name and email address, and a FHIR base URL.
Apply to be a vendor
Begin the application process by signing in to the Apple Business Register web portal, then provide information about your company.
Create an account for Apple Business Register, sign in, then click Get Started.
If your company has multiple EHR platforms, coordinate a single registration for your entire company. You can then configure your company’s sandbox (FHIR API endpoint details) integration testing with Health Records. Apple notifies administrative and technical contacts when redundant registrations appear.
If the list of services appears, click the Add button for Health Records, then click Done.
Click Health Records, then click Get Started.
Read and acknowledge the Health Records Acknowledgment statement, then click Agree.
Choose EHR Vendor or FHIR API Vendor as the type of organization, then click Next.
Provide your company details, then click Next. For more information about this part of the application, see Register your organization name and address.
Provide your FHIR infrastructure details, then click Submit.
Allow 1 week for Apple to review your application.
Important: Apple never shares the information you provide beyond the stated use—to enable your company’s support for Health Records.
Accept the Service Integration Agreement (SIA)
Your signing authority receives the Service Integration Agreement (SIA) in an email. They must accept it before you’re listed.
Note: Accepting the SIA can’t be undone.
If you forward the agreement to your company’s signing authority, let them know they can expect an email from Apple with the subject “Health Records - Service Integration Agreement.”
After signing, you can proceed to test your FHIR APIs.
