Remove and replace colors from an image or video in Pixelmator Pro on iPad
Use the Remove Color and Replace Color controls in the Color Adjustments pane to target and modify specific colors in an image.
Remove Color makes specific color ranges transparent—useful for green screen effects or eliminating unwanted background colors. Replace Color swaps one color for another—useful for changing the background color, changing product colors, or making creative color transformations. Both tools use intelligent algorithms that create smooth selections for removal and replacement.
Remove a color in an image
Use Remove Color for green screen compositing, removing solid backgrounds, or creating transparency effects.
In Pixelmator Pro on iPad, select a layer in the Layers sidebar.
Swipe down from the top of the screen to reveal the menu bar, then choose Format > Color Adjustments > Remove Color.
Tap the color well to choose a color, or use the eyedropper to sample directly from your image in the canvas.
Portions of your image containing the selected color are removed.
Fine-tune the adjustment by doing any of the following:
Drag the Color Range slider to adjust how many similar colors are removed. The higher the value, the broader the range of colors affected.
Drag the Luminance Range slider to adjust color removal based on brightness levels within the selected color range. This helps preserve shadows and highlights of the target color.
Drag the Intensity slider to adjust the transparency of the selected color range. 100% fully removes the selected color, while lower numbers create partial transparency for more subtle effects.
Replace a color in an image
Use Replace Color to correct color casts, change product or background colors for e-commerce, or create artistic color schemes. Replace Color maintains natural lighting and shadows while transforming specific hues.
In Pixelmator Pro on iPad, select a layer in the Layers sidebar.
Select
in the Tools sidebar, then turn on Replace Color in the Color Adjustments pane.
Tap the left color well to select the color you want to replace, or use the eyedropper to sample from your image.
Tap the right color well, then select a replacement color.
Drag the Range slider to adjust how many similar colors are removed.
The higher the value, the broader the range of colors affected.
Drag the Intensity slider to control how much the replacement color blends with the original.
Lower values create subtle color shifts, while higher values produce complete color replacement.
