Change VoiceOver Verbosity settings (Speech tab) in VoiceOver Utility on Mac
Use the Speech pane of the Verbosity category in VoiceOver Utility to specify the default verbosity level and a verbosity level for items, such as apps, tickboxes, headings, images and more.
To open VoiceOver Utility, press Command-F5 to turn VoiceOver on, then press VO-Fn-F8.
Note: VO represents the VoiceOver modifier that you press with additional keys to enter VoiceOver commands. By default, you can press Control and Option together or just press Caps Lock.
Option | Description |
---|---|
Default Speech Verbosity | Choose the default verbosity level — High, Medium or Low — for items on the screen. |
Additional options button | Display a list of controls for which you can individually set a verbosity level. To set a control’s verbosity level, select the control in the list, click its Verbosity pop-up menu, then choose a level (Default, Low, Medium or High). To customise or reorder the information VoiceOver provides (for example, to hear Status first), choose Custom from the control’s Verbosity pop-up menu, then follow the onscreen instructions. |
To use the Verbosity rotor to change the default verbosity level while working, press VO-V.
