Use movie chapters and bookmarks
Movie chapters and bookmarks help you view a specific place in a movie.
If a DVD does not have chapters, you can create bookmarks to quickly locate favorite scenes. You can also create new thumbnail pictures to display in the Image bar or in the Chapters or Bookmarks window.
Go to a chapter
Some movies are divided into sections called chapters. If your DVD has chapters, you can skip from chapter to chapter, or choose a specific chapter to watch.
Do any of the following:
Choose Go > Chapter, then choose a chapter from the menu.
Choose Window > Chapters to view all chapters, then select a chapter in the Chapters window.
Use the Controller bar or the Controller to skip through chapters.
Edit chapter titles and thumbnails
Choose Window > Chapters, then select a chapter.
Click the Action pop-up menu , then choose Rename or Use Current Frame for Thumbnail.
If some thumbnail images are missing, click the Action pop-up menu , then choose Generate Missing Thumbnails.
If you’re in full-screen view, you can also Control-click a chapter in the Image bar and choose a command from the shortcut menu.
Create bookmarks
If a DVD doesn’t include chapters, you can use bookmarks to quickly go to your favorite movie moments.
Find a place in the movie where you want to set a bookmark, then pause the movie.
Do one of the following:
Press Command-Equal Sign (=).
Choose Controls > New Bookmark.
Choose Window > Bookmarks to display the Bookmarks window, then click the Add button .
Enter a name for the bookmark.
To have the movie start playing at this spot, select Make Default Bookmark.
Click Add.
Edit bookmark titles and thumbnails
Choose Window > Bookmarks, then select the bookmark you want to change.
Click the Action pop-up menu , then choose Rename or Use Current Frame for Thumbnail.
If some thumbnail images are missing, click the Action pop-up menu , then choose Generate Missing Thumbnails.
If you’re in full-screen view, you can also Control-click a bookmark in the Image bar, then choose a command from the shortcut menu.
View or remove bookmarks
Choose Window > Bookmarks to see the bookmarks in the Bookmarks window.
If you want to remove a bookmark, select it, then click the Remove button .
Use the Image bar
While in full-screen view, you can use thumbnails to go to a chapter or bookmark.
While watching a movie in full-screen view, move the pointer to the top of the screen.
Click the chapter icon or the bookmark in the left side of the Image bar.
Click the thumbnail to skip to that chapter or bookmark.
