Prerequisites for Health Records
To participate in Health Records, your organization must meet the following criteria:
Your organization must be a healthcare provider (such as a health system, hospital, clinic, physician practice, telehealth provider, medical laboratory, or pharmacy) in Canada, the United Kingdom, or the United States.
Your organization must provide your patients with user name and password credentials for authenticating their identities against your publicly available FHIR API endpoint—usually the same credentials your patients use on your patient portal.
Your organization must use one of the electronic health record (EHR) systems supported by Health Records. Listed below are the supported EHR systems by country.
Note: Health Records supports FHIR version R4 and FHIR version DSTU2. It’s recommended that organizations newly registering in Health Records use FHIR version R4 (v4.0.1) if available.
Your EHR vendor will help you determine whether your organization meets the full technical requirements for Health Records.

Contact your EHR vendor about their plans to support Health Records.
If your organization hasn’t implemented a FHIR API, consult with your EHR vendor to implement one that is compatible with either the US Core Implementation Guide v3.1.1 (recommended) or the Argonaut Data Query Implementation Guide Version 1.0.0.
